Never Stop Exploring: Las Vegas Edition

9/5/2018

We have been lucky enough to plan events all over the world. Even if we are traveling for professional reasons, we always try to slip in some fun and explore as much as we can.

Las Vegas is one of our favorite places in the United States. That's definitely a personal preference because we understand it's not for everyone, but if you enjoy food, entertainment, gambling, shopping, adventure, recreation - literally just about anything - you can find something for you!

We have traveled there professionally, in our 20's with 9 other girls, even with our parents for their 60th birthday, so we like to think we've seen a little bit of all the sides of the city.

Here's our Top 5 insights that work for ANYONE planning a trip to lively destination. In no particular order.....

High Roller

For lack of a better term (they call it an "observation wheel") this is the best ferris wheel I have been on. First, you're inside, none of that dangling anxiety for anyone with a fear of heights. Second, you have full 360 views of the city. If you have just arrived, it's perfect to get a sense of direction and see where all those favorite landmarks are. Third, it's only 30 minutes! A quick touristy activity that I promise will have any impact.

This is great for all ages, but if you're in Vegas to enjoy the 21+ lifestyle, their "Happy Half Hour" is a must.

Wicked Spoon

Nothing screams Vegas more than a buffet. But Wicked Spoon at the Cosmopolitan allows you to combine your foodie side with your cheesy Vegas needs. Their spread covers just about every cuisine you can imagine. Each dish is served separately on an individual dish, allow you the proper portion, display and (hygiene!). One of the best things about a buffet is the chance to try new things and Wicked Spoon does not disappoint. Bone Marrow anyone?

Neon Museum

Just off the strip is the Neon Museum. If you want to add a little bit of history and "culture" to your trip, head a block over for a trip down memory lane featuring a history of the iconic Las Vegas neon signs. Most specifically, be sure to visit their Boneyard in the back for photo ops galore!

Hoover Dam

If your looking for a break for the flashing lights, blasting AC and slot machine bells, take a half day trip to the Hoover Dam. I don't really feel like I can accurately describe how impressive it is. I promise it will not disappoint. It's only 45 minutes from the Strip, so easy to rent a car to take advantage of the many tour options (including a helicopter?).

Cirque du Soleil - ANY

A Las Vegas classic. If you haven't had the opportunity to see any Cirque du Soleil shows ANYWHERE, but let alone Vegas, I highly recommend it. There are themes and music for any interest and they are pure entertainment. Not only will you be mesmerized in your seat, but if you to Love (The Beatles themed) or One (Michael Jackson themed) - you'll be singing in your seat too.
